Our aim

Our overall aim is simple: to make sure our pupils are not disadvantaged as a result of their socio‑economic context. With the right support and provision, every pupil can achieve their full potential. We use evidence (including guidance from the EEF) and our knowledge of local need to select the most effective actions. We know there is no “one size fits all” solution, so our approach is tailored for each pupil.

Principles that guide our use of Pupil Premium

Our strategy is rooted in our RISE values and the principle that high‑quality teaching and inclusive practice benefit all pupils. Key principles are:

• We ensure teaching and learning opportunities meet the needs of all pupils, including those eligible for Pupil Premium.
• We recognise that not all pupils who receive Pupil Premium will be disadvantaged, and not all disadvantaged pupils are registered. We will use funding to support pupils we identify as disadvantaged where appropriate.
• We make sure provision for vulnerable groups is based on careful assessment of need and is regularly reviewed.
• All teaching staff are involved in analysing data and identifying disadvantaged pupils so the whole school collectively prioritises narrowing the gap between disadvantaged and non‑disadvantaged pupils.
• Our decisions are informed by evidence (for example, EEF guidance) and our local knowledge of pupils and families.

How we spend Pupil Premium (overview)

We allocate funding across a mix of approaches, following the tiered model of:

• Developing high‑quality teaching
• Targeted academic support
• Wider strategies to address attendance, wellbeing and participation

Each year we publish a detailed Pupil Premium Strategy statement on the school website using the DfE template, showing planned spending and intended impact.

How our RISE values shape our Pupil Premium work

Practical examples and impact

• Reading at the heart: We have invested in reading interventions and additional guided reading sessions. Where pupils received targeted reading support, we have seen improved fluency and confidence, supporting access to the whole curriculum.
• Targeted maths groups: Small‑group maths support has helped pupils close gaps in number and problem‑solving skills.
• Enrichment and access: Subsidised trips, music lessons and clubs ensure pupils experience opportunities that build cultural capital and broaden horizons.
• Wellbeing support: Short‑term counselling and nurture groups reduce barriers to learning, improving attendance and engagement.

We monitor progress using regular assessment data and review interventions every term to ensure they are effective. Staff reflect together on outcomes to refine provision.

Eligibility and registration

If your child is eligible for Pupil Premium (for example, if you receive certain benefits or your child is looked after), please let the school office know or see our leaflet which explains registration. Registering helps us secure additional funding that directly benefits your child and other pupils in our school. Even if your child already receives universal infant free school meals, registering for Pupil Premium may unlock extra support.
